It depends on the situation. If they're your true friends, they know you.. know how you act, what you need, etc., and so their advice is often meaningful. They want what's best for you. I don't agree it's always important to do what they say, though. You always should listen, but take all advice with a grain of salt. Stay true to yourself. And remember, sometimes friends are selfish... just be careful. Usually, though, listening to friends is a good idea because they do know you and have a good idea what's best for you.

What do you mean by "listen?" Do you just mean hearing them talk? Do you mean when they have a problem and need someone to listen? Or do you mean when they give you advice?

The answer to the first two of these kinds of listen is obvious: if you don't listen to your friends, they will not listen to you, and will eventually stop being your friends. Then you won't have friends. If you mean when they give you advice, then there are a handful of things to consider:

1. Because they care about you and want what is best for you.
2. Because they know you well and understand you better than others do.
3. Because they may see something in a situation that you do not.

That said, it is only a good idea to listen to them when they are RIGHT. Friends are not perfect. If they give you advice, it is actually more important NOT to listen to them!

I honestly think that it depends on how reliable your friends are. If they stick with you, no matter what, then you should listen to them because you know that they care since they don't let you down. If they aren't there for you, then you shouldn't put too much effort into them either. This goes for listening to their stories and problems, and aswell for listening to their advice. I know this from personal experience. I've had my fair share of horrible friends, so I know when to put forth the effort and when to hold back.

It's not that important to listen to your friends but most of the time they know you better than you know yourself. Sometimes they're the voice of reason. Just don't completely ignore there advice all the time, just take there opinions into account.

As with any relationship you only get out of it what you put in. If you want to keep friends you need to show value in what they are telling you. If I had a friend that didn't listen to me I would question just how sincere a friend they were.

The important thing is not to listen to them as in, doing everything the tell you to, but to evaluate their opinions and then deciding for yourself... of course without them realizing that you're doing that or you might end up friendless... it tricky, but some people manage... (not me really)

So they will listen to you when you need them to. That's what being a friend is.

if they are real friends, they will want you happy and what is best for you. Just make sure when you listen to friends, they are real friends.

friends are forever. your friends will give you the advice that they think is right. If you get a bunch of different points from your friends then sift through them and see which one you feel is best.

I think other people's opinions are interesting. I would still weigh my decision by my own standards with full knowledge of the consequences.
