First I will analyze :

" -2 square 2 and (-2) square "

[scratch scratch]

-2 square is that -2 * -2 ? or just - 2 * 2

well i think its - 2 * 2 because later you ask (-2) square

but if I see -2 square, i will go for -2 * -2, because I see -2 as one number , not two separate things , a minus and a 2

SO - 2 square is (-2) ^2 IN my opiniion.

now you as what is -2 square 2

-2 square = -2 * -2 and the 2 ????
i dont get it square 2 here stops the analysing of - 2 square 2

next (-2) square , yes that is definatly the same as -2 square.
as I told earlier -2 square is ONE number its not -1 *2 ^2 no its not that.

this concl;udes the analysis

NEXT contrast the diffenence .

Difference ???
there is no difference teacher . no there is no difference

if you write -2 square , everyone with a mathematical conscience will say that this is the same as (-2)^2
but if yoiu wriote - 2^2 yest then it is - 4
but not -2 square

so that was my contribution.

Oh you have 2 other questions....

1) -2^2 the square has precidence over the negative so it equals -4. In (-2)^2 the negative has precidence so the answer is 4.

2) To subtract a polynomial h(x) from g(x) multiply h(x) by (-1) and add like terms.

SO : g(x) - h(x) . yes that is the same as multiplying each term of the h(x) and then adding each term to g(x) yes that is all right good !

3) Again, watch the parentheses. x^2 + y^2 is simply that. (x+y)^2 can be simplified to x^2 +2xy + y^2 using the FOIL method.

huh the FIL method ... never heard of it, this is how thing go :

(a+b) * (c + d) = a(c+d) + b(c+d) = ac + ad + bc + bd

so in your case

(x+y)^2 = (x+y)(x+y) = x (x+y) + y (x+y) = x^2 + xy + yx + y^2

since xy is the same as yx ( 3 * 5 = 5*3 rihgjt ? )

you get that
x^2 + xy + yx + y^2 = x^2 + 2xy + y^2

....

3) Explain the difference between the experssions (x+y) square 2 and x square 2 + y square 2.

heeeee you changed the question while I was answering ....

1) -2 square means get square of 2 then put -ve next to it answer is -4
2 square means 2*2=4
(-2) all square means -2*-2 =+4 caz -ve *-ve = +ve
( -ve means negative )
2) we decide which is up and which is down ( subtract down from up ) or always ( sub . small from big )
we arrange the terms of each such that like terms are in one column , we change all signs of the down ( +ve to -ve and vice versa) then we deal with it as additon :ex :
subtract 5x^2 + 2x -3 from -4x^2 + 3x - 5

-4x^2 + 3x - 5
- - + change signs
5x^2 + 2x -3
-------------------
( -4-5)x^2 + (3-2)x -5+3 =-9x^2 +x -2
3) ( x + y )square is expand using formula :
first^2 + first*second*two +second^2
so answer is x^2 +2xy + y^2
the difference is middle term 2xy
