Is there any defference in the body styles? Or is a Catalina just a stepped down Bonneville?

you got it right, the same body just more chrome and gingerbread on the Bonneville.

I'm no expert on these old boats, but IIRC the Catalina and Bonneville are not one in the same in those years. The Catalina and Grand Prix were the same later, and the Bonneville was a step above either. What exactly was the difference? I'm sure an expert will chime in...

To the best of my recollection, the only difference in the two models is trim and some interior differences (Bonneville I think had bucket seats and an available console). My neighbor had a new 1960 Catalina which was quite a "boat"; it was nearly identical to the Bonneville.

one diffrence is the Starchief/Bonneville are a few inches longer than the Catalina/Gran Prix
