Traffic does tend to vary depending on the area and the day of the week. Typically Friday traffic is lighter in the business areas and higher in vacation areas. For example traffic may be lighter than usual in Boston but much higher on the Cape in summer because everyone is going away for the weekend. Of course weather breaks all traffic patterns and if it the roads are wet or snowy that can create traffic. In the end, it all depends on many variables however it only takes one idiot to cause a huge accident and back-up traffic any time.

In general, yes. It moves though unless there's a severe accident on one of the major interstates that blocks several lanes of traffic. And it depends on where in Massachusetts you are too, Boston has more traffic than western Massachusetts. (Yes it's a small state but still, depends on where you are). And even Boston doesn't have traffic as bad as some cities like Los Angeles, New York or Washington DC.

no, all the cars disappear on Thursday nights and then reappear early Monday mornings.

Duh, of course there is traffic in Massachusetts on Fridays.

There is considerably less traffic on Fridays. Many people work four-day weeks and many many people take off Fridays.
