Complex communication is human nature. It is one of the major traits that separates us from the other animals. Human beings have the ability to communicate and resolve problems through speech. Natural selection selects for traits that increase the chances for reproduction. Solving problems with communication gives humans the ability to continue reproducing. Violence goes against evolution and limits reproduction. Violence may increase reproduction for some people, but communication increases reproduction for far more people. Violence is a "decision" people make, one that goes "against" human nature.

The folks that believe this are called "Republicans".

Violence is not something that comes naturally - it has to be ingrained into a person!

Example - Ever meet any violent Buddhist???????????

Have you found communication effective in solving your problems?

I believe myself able to communicate effectively yet unless I can threaten them they have the ability to just disreguard what I've said.

I have tried since 2004 to peacfully solve the problem of not having health care insurance. I am not a threat since no attorney will go against the insurance companies or Human Services or state or federal government to solve this problem.

Even the painfull and slow death being caused by lack of proper health care is not a concern to the powers that be.

As a mother my instincts are becoming more interested in finding more threatening ways to deal with the problems.

When your life and well being is on the line if peaceful solutions don't work you will be forced to protect and defend yourself.

Ummm...I can't agree with your statement. Children can not communicate in any complexity at all through speech. Which means you did not communicate in any complex way when you were born. A more accurate statement would be Emotion is in human nature and is usually the driving force behind everyones actions.

to me violence is human nature because u can say something or do something and it gets to the wrong person and ends up in violence and from the beginning of time u have herd that man created guns man created war and so on and so on and some people hate other people because some r richer and some r prettier.cutter, popular and their country is better than ours so they think and that's how war began and that's y some people in Iraq hate the Americans because America is more developed, and safer and that's y they destroyed the twin towers and killed all those people and destroyed all those families THAT'S Y I THINK VIOLENCE IS HUMAN NATURE..

I agree with you!
I can tell you that watching my children grow and learn, it's in our nature to be SELF-CENTERED --that's how we survive-- but it's not in our nature to be violent. My youngest just turned a year old and I never saw any indication that it was his INSTINCT to resort to violence. As human beings we learn to be violent toward each other. If my baby is in a situation that is upsetting to him he naturally protects himself or tries to remove himself from the situation, he does not try to hurt us to make us stop.
For example, if he has a diaper rash and it hurts him to be cleaned during a diaper change then he cries and sqirms and kicks his legs so that it is difficult for us to get to touch him, that way he can't be hurt. He doesn't, however, try to hit us or hurt us in self-defense. It's the same if he is full and we're still trying to put a spoon in his face. He will turn his head or put his hands up to stop us, but he's not trying to hurt us.
Also, as far as communication, because babies have to be selfish in order to survive, they communicate in all sorts of ways! If they can't verbalize their needs they use body language. Babies can also learn sign language or really any language easier than adults. It's in us to learn how to get our needs met and if it's a person's instinct or in their nature to be violent in order to get their point across, it's because that's what they were taught.

But actually, in response to your question, I think we've become a society that glorifies violence and rewards those who bully or use brute force to get their way. It takes a lot more effort to verbally communicate your point of view in hopes that someone will really listen than it does to pummel someone into submission.
