umm Yes! The way Kobe is playing unselfishly, Luke walton having a stacked season, Odom FINALLY back. If Odom can go back to shooting a high percentage and rebounds and gets out 4-6 assists a game, then i like this team A LOT. I mean the one peice they were missing since Shaq left is a big man. I thought it was idiotic when they drafted Bynum, but it seems like hes the next superstar big man. If he keeps on getting better at the rate hes going, you're gonna see an improvment by the end of the year and heading into the post season. The bench players are playing extremly well too. Jordan, Turriaf, Rad-man, Cook, Brown (when he's healthy) Evans (hard to believe they got him while only trading a 2nd round pick!) why couldn't the lakers be a contender? I'm not saying that they will beat the Suns and Mavs, but why not? They already have before and have the will power to do it again. I mean they still have Kobe, maybe one of the best players on creating his own shot in the game and if he keeps on passing, he can drive and just hit the open man on the three everytime. Lakers are gonna be a force to be reakon with if they can just stay healthy.

The Lakers don't have that center-guy. definite Bynum is a robust participant, which he suggested it can be a smash out twelve months for him. ok it could be 10 and 10 season. regardless of the undeniable fact that it shouldn't strengthen the universal team. Kobe's nevertheless going to take 30- 32 photographs a sport. And definite Lamar is a robust participant and he dose have the comparable features as Scottie and taller yet Jordan had better than Scottie, different grasp gamers that the Lakers don't have. Harper, Paxson....... i think of the Lakers are tremendously first rate team from the third to the 4th Q yet they don't have an identity, are they a quickly-smash team. are they a collection up team. One sport I see them working and capturing the different their strolling up the court docket!!! I say no further than seventh spot. U nevertheless have Houston, Denver, Spurs, Mavs, Suns, and the hot superior Jazz and the unpredicted Warriors. Thats already 7 communities they could coach they could beat in the universal season. w/or w/out Odom. i'm a Houston and Denver fan!

It's the same story every year. Lakers are missing a good point guard and a good rebounding power forward. Lamar Odom's good at Power but he's better served at Small Forward. Until the Lakers address this problem, they can't succeed in the playoffs. It's time for the Lakers to make a push for KG before he starts getting too old.

Yes but not a good one. Any team with a fit Kobe is in contention but realistically they sit behind Dallas, Phoenix, San Antonio, Utah and Houston in the West with Houston likely to get Yao back to push them even further in front. The Lakers might win in the first round but I cant see them going much further this year.
They could win it all but they would need to get a lucky run and have other teams lose form badly. I think they are only a 1 or 2% chance but thats still a chance.

No - Kobe needs a lot of help and Odom just is not enough. Luke Walton's injury also hurts and Andrew Bynum and Kwame Brown are not consistent contributors. They are at least two players away to compete in the West. They would be a top 4 team in the East.

If they finish in the top 6 of the Western Conf, yeah, I think they have a good chance. Much better than the Heat, now that there best player is down.

In the coming season sure! If Kobe keeps up the good work and helps his tammates pull it together they just might do better this season. They need a more stategic defense! And Kobe of course can't do ALL the work in the offense!

Not if they don't end this losing streak that they are currently on. They need to become for more consistent, if they want to be a contender.

The Lakers and atheists have something in common: They both don't have a prayer.

With a healthy team they could make it through the first round. But I'm can't see them going into Dallas and winning.
