If the sun shone everyday wouldn't it be great, but after a while things would dry up and die, if it rained everyday things would be bogged down and flood and cause problems. Life is much the same, if we are happy all the time we would never know the potential of our happiness, only when we experience pain and sadness it's then we know the meaning of true happiness, and look at how happy we can be after a series of bad, sad events. Life IS a gift.
When life has given you what appears to be a problem, that only means you don't know how, or haven't learned how, to solve it yet.
After you solve it, when life gives you the same problem again in the future, it will no longer appear as a problem. You have grown & evolved, your consciousness is raised.
But when OTHER people suffer the problem, you can help them by showing them a possible way to solve it. THEY can grow and evolve, and raise their consciousness. Then a connection, some would call it a kind of Love, is born in time and space between You and That Person.
When that happens, You Become a Gift to That Person.
Life is a Gift, and You are a Gift as well.

Because if there were no challenges or lessons to be learned then whats the point of living? However it's up to you as to how you view this world. Roll with the punches, everybody cries. Smile more often it feels pretty good and realize when you are too old to make a change anymore that life is short yet so dynamic.

I don't quite know where you come up with life is a gift. But, as to it being hard? Well, hats the nature of living. Growing, learning, making decisions, living with the decisions you make. Its "hard" because everything around us tells us it should be so easy....but reality isn't easy.
Its sad, lonely, it lets you down, it stumps you...but, its also joyful, loving, uplifting...its all in how you take it. If you dwell on the hard, then its never going to get easier.

Well... it can't be easy all of the time...then you aren't living any ways. It's our trials that we go through that tell us who we really are and test our character.
