how do I make avatar changes show up as pictures?

I bring up the change avatar page and no pictures appear. What am I doing wrong?

After you make your avatar, you have to save it to your favorites. On the left, under the avatar, click the button "add to favorites."

After that, you can click on the "My Favorites" tab and click on "favorite avatars" right under that. Once you save it, it will display with your questions/answers like everyone else.
