Which one is more accurate for due date. Last Menstrual Period date or Ultrasound. My lmp was dec 15 which means my baby will be born on sep 21, however, my first ultrasound showed the due date as sep 16 and then i had another ultrasound a week ago and it now says sep 14??? Whats up with that.... when is my little one due???? Thank you in advance for your answers and past experiences.

US is more accurate when done very early in the pregnancy, before 10 weeks. Babies grow at their own rate, and there are other factors which influence the size of the baby as well. LMP is good if you are sure when it was, not all women are sure. As you progress in your pregnancy, any further US will still have an EDC, (expected date of confinement) but actual dating should be taken from the first US if it was done very early in the pregnancy.

Hope this helps.

Most doctors will go by LMP despite what the ultrasound says--unless the ultrasound shows you more than a week ahead of your LMP. For example, by my LMP (which was actually a miscarriage, long story) my due date is July 12th. My ultrasounds consistently put me at July 6--the but the doctor won't change my due date unless the ultrasound says July 5. BUT, in your case, there is the added confusion that earlier ultrasounds are considered to be more accurate--so it's unlikely that your due date will be changed from September 21.

I don't think it makes any sense myself, but the truth is that the baby is going to come when s/he is good and ready no matter what your due date is. Continue with September 21 unless your doctor says otherwise (and it sounds like there's a good chance you'll be a little earlier than that).

My doctor went with my due date as the sonogram due date so I would guess probably around sept 16. Depending on how quickly the baby is developing and how it's growing, the sonogram date can still change in a few months, but they'll probably stick with the 16th. My baby by LMP is 3/17, the first sonogram showed 3/22, and the most recent showed 3/21. But my first born came 8 days early so.....

Do you know when you conceived? If yes -- see what that tells you; it's probably the most accurate.

I asked something similar a while back, and got all sorts of answers.

I asked my midwife, who leans towards the ultrasound, but who also sensibly pointed out that (1) 1st pregnancies average 41 weeks, (2) first pregnancies also tend to go a bit 'overdue,' and, and... Well, long story short, I'm not getting too hung up on dates.

I've also heard rumours that a 'tilted' or 'retroverted' uterus (very common) can make dates a little off, but I have no idea if that's correct.

For convenience, you'll probably want to agree with whichever of those dates your midwife or doctor prefers; just don't get too attached to it as a birthday or anything -- but you probably knew that. Good luck!

extremely sound for valuable. Your LMP is basically basically an knowledgeable guess (2 weeks after the 1st day of your final era) The extremely sound relatively measures the child, that's so lots greater precise. My due date consistent with my LMP became into 2 weeks formerly my due date consistent with my u/s

My due date by LMP was December 5th. Ultrasound said the 7th. She was born on the first of December, but that is because my doctor stripped my membranes

When i had my first ultrasound, my due date changed by a few days and my Dr goes by that. So i would stick with the ultrasound date. Congrats and good luck!

Doctors say that the ultra sound is more accurate, but I had my son on my lmp due date........It was Jan. 4th and the ultra sound was Jan 14th....... It doesn't really matter unless you go over your due date anyway... Baby will come when ready.....
