I have an cat that I love; I just can't bear to see her gone. How do I plan a proper and loving funeral for her?

Excuse me, I said "an" cat; I meant "an old" cat. I'm very sorry for the error.

I would like to share how I conducted a funeral for my little dog. I had my furry baby cremated. While I was awaiting her cremains, I wrote a little page on what she had meant to me. I gathered her favorite little rubber toy and then I purchased a ceramic dog/angel. It was a little sleeping dog with wings. I got it at Marshall's, if you have that store available.

My husband and daughters and I went into the backyard and picked a spot under a pine tree. I dug a small hole. Then we sat up a little table and lit a candle. The little box of ashes was placed by the candle. I read my paper about Sasha and then each person said what they wished. At that point I placed the little toy and her ashes in the hole, along with the paper I had written. We all covered the hole and then placed the ceramic dog on top. We blew out the candle and all felt that we had honored our special little friend. I go out there frequently and remember her.

I do know how you feel. Just enjoy your furry baby while she is here, as I know you do.

Search on the Internet for a pet grief counselor in your area. Some may be able to help you with your plans.
Usually, if you wish to have your feline baby cremated, a local veterinarian clinic may be able to accommodate you. Otherwise, a pet cemetary or lovely place on your property will do.

When I cremated my love of 19 years, I went to a Pier 1 shop and picked out a beautiful wooden box to put her ashes into. This box was later stolen when our home was robbed...I hope Maggie haunts them for eternity....I wanted to be buried with her ashes. Maggie died over 10 years ago and I still grieve.

The death of a beloved pet is so much more than just losing an animal. They were part of your family and you should be allowed to grieve for them and hold ceremonies for them as you would for any other family member. It may also help to have a small memorial set up in your home for a while. I'm not saying you should dwell on your pet's death, but give yourself permission to grieve and remember the good times. You will always miss her, but the hurt will ease with time.

It's very hard to loose someone we love. We just lost our 15 year old Golden Retriever. He was a great dog and I don't see myself getting another one anywhere in the future. there are a lot of ways to have a funeral. You could have him cremated and have a memorial service at your home or a banquet hall.. there are very nice pet cemeteries out there too. My cousin has her cat at one. She had a priest, a coffin and a burial ceremony. Just like for anyone (human) we love their whole lives and longer... good luck. my prayers are with you and your old cat :)

The best way is to choose a place where you want to lay her. when my cat passed away I wanted her to be in the backyard. I went into the back and dug a hole. i put my cat in, (you can put her in a box if you want, but i just put her in the ground. I said some prayers while doing that to make her journey easy. and with each scoop i put over her body i said a prayer, then i put some holy water and then i put a flower on her grave and lit a tealight candle. and took a minute to say goodbye.

Sorry to hear that. Usually most people just bury their pet in their backyard...if you do just be careful that other animals don't dig her up. Or i've heard of pet cemterys. Its kinda a fancy way to have a funeral for a pet. May want to find one if they have one near by you. take care!

Most Humane Centres have burials for your animals, they can cremate them and you can get the ashes or they can be buried in the animal grave site, (cheaper then your vet) good luck in finding a way to say goodbye I know its not easy.
