Because it might be seen as insider trading? What if I become a corporate lawyer?

You can buy whatever stock you want.
As a corporate lawyer however you need to be careful when buying stock from your own company.
Lawyers are privy to inside information. This really only applies to selling stock just before a major drop in price. If you purchase stock and follow normal trading rules you should be fine.
Inside trading is not that hard to prove. Someone will always remember a conversation and if it gets to court you would get caught.

Yes, you will have to pre-clear your trades and have them approved before you trade. Depending on what informaiton you have access to there could be further restrictions. I know this is true for publicly traded companies.
