Never, I do it myself.
You should have the oil changed every 3000 miles, the book may tell you 5000, which is OK, but every 3000 is better. If you use a good mechanic they will check the rest of the car out when they change the oil. If you use the same shop on a regular basis they will usually keep records on your car and suggest when it is time to preform other maintenance.
Check the owners manual, it should tell you.

there is many things that need to be maintained at different times. oil and filter change every 3-5,000 miles. air filter every 15k mi, fuel filter every 25k mi, all fluids are essential to your vehicles performance it depends on what the manufacturer recommends especially if the car is under warranty. trans fluid i'd have it changed at about 60k mi, same as for the coolant, the brake fluid, and power steering. have your drive belt inspected for the right tension and for hardness or cracks every so often. make sure entire brake system is looked at every other oil change. and keep your tires at the proper psi. and your car should last a very long time. remember with automobiles you get what you pay for always use quality parts. you can never go wrong with what the manufacturer recommends.

Yuo should get your oil and filter changed every 3,000 miles or once every three months depending on which comes first. This is a very important thing to do as well for the health of your cars enging. I like to check and lubricate all the lube joins at this time as well. You should also have a mechanic (one that you can trust) go over the car annually as well and makes repairs / adjustments as needed. Rotate your tires, and check brakes as needed to

Every three months or three thousand miles we get the oil and filter changed, the chassis lubricated. The tires we rotate every 7,500 miles. Tuneups are done as per the manufacturer's recommendation. The air filter, brake fluid, power steering fluid and coolant are checked regularly, by me and by mechanics at the dealership, as per recommendation. The rest of the maintenance is done as necessary (when the battery died, it was replaced; when the brakes started to feel soft or started squeaking, they were replaced).

these answers very on the age and problems with each car, rule of thumb, oil change every season, winter , summer and so on. change your battery every 5 years, once a week on Saturday before you start it up check the fluids, this will tell you everything, when you return, check your transmission fluid while it running in park. check your tires pressure between oil changes, 1 set of rear brake shoes to 2/3 set of front brake pads, read your owners manual, this will give you the knowledge you need.

If you NEVER WANT To Have to worry about an engine overhaul; then you need to have your oil changed every 3,000 miles; or 30 DAYS; Which ever occurs first.
Just as Important is to MAKE SURE you Always Warm up your engine before going ANYWHERE. That's why many vehicles have a temperature gauge..

In your owners manual, there is a Maintence guide...just follow that and you should be fine. Make sure to keep up with your oil changes and tire rotations, flushes, and filters and your car should continue running like new!

3,000 Miles for oil change, everything else it usually needs something every 30,000 Miles, such as Fuel Filter or Spark-plugs or something along those lines, just have to find the Maintenance schedule in the manual or talk to the dealer.

When you get your oil changed just have them look over the car. If not take it in when it breaks down.
