Read an article where they state that Prince William will be going to Iraq to serve and they are afraid he will be a target. So, why the heck did the press have to give out every little bit of information on where he will be, how many men in his unit, etc., etc. I'm sure he will be followed around by some press guy where ever he goes while there so they can report when he picks up a stone or something.

OOPS - Wrong Prince - it's Prince Harry that is going. Sorry.

Of course the press should refrain from reporting certain things, and they certainly do, or else there tend to be repurcussions. Remember the hoopla when, during the early stages of the Iraq war, Fox News star Geraldo Rivera, who was embedded with a combat unit, drew a map in the sand for the TV audience to illustrate an upcoming operation? The military went ballistic, and after that Geraldo did his reporting from way behind the lines, in Kuwait.

As for the Prince Harry story, I can guarantee there would have been a lot more people upset that it wasn't reported than that it was. Do you really think that one of the heirs to the British throne could be deployed to a combat zone and the news not get out, even if the media didn't report it? And anyone who knew what unit Harry was in, which is a lot of people, could easily figure out how many men were in it, just by knowing the type of unit. Since Harry is a second lieutenant, and since officers of such rank usually command something like a squad, which is about twelve men . . . see how easy it is?

Actually, it's quite a good thing that this is being made into such a big deal. After all, it demonstrates that a member of the Royal Family is just as willing to put his life on the line as some poor sod from the East End. It also sets a nice example for all those pro-war politicians in the U.S. who are quite willing to send someone else's kid off to their grand little war.

Put in Harms way, maybe, or it will keep him alive with all the attention. Harry is a pretty tough guy from what I've read. This may be one time the Royal's will accept the attention. I recall reading about all the old time Movie Stars went to WWII, and even Elvis. Sure some may say times were different, but I think war is war, no matter what century.
Maybe Prince Harry will end up a real life Nobleman before this is done with, or escalates.
This just shows there is no emancipation exceptions to the rule of War. You got to go, when your called.
I wish Wars could be forced to stop by communications rather than by force or violence. Oh well...Let's see who's elected next.

Nothing can stop the press from reporting the facts...especially when they get huge, huge money for a story like that...It is a shame, because it does put many lives at risk...

Yes, absolutely. I think the safety of the troops and other public defenders should take precedence over the public's so-called "right to know."

yes, and they probably follow him around like a bunch of flies once he is there, so the terrorist won't have any problems picking him off.
