They seem to be the channels I watch mostly. Or is Virgin trying to bluff Sky by threatening to pull their channels?

I'd be gutted if they go and I'm under contract with them for another 6 months so I couldn't cancel.

To clarify....i'm not loosing any sleep. I also have 10 meg broadband so I'm not really gonna loose anything. I'm pretty sure its just neotiating tactics for both parties.

But my contract does say that they have the right to alter channels from time to time.

I'm sure that if they dont work it out then Ofcom would bang their heads togeather.

Was watching this on the news the other night, it seems Sky has put its prices up and Virgin wont pay, I hope they get it sorted out soon or we will lose our Sky channels, then I, along with loads of others will be leaving Virgin TV and moving to Sky.

Well that's what happens when a com[any is taken over by another company.

What your going to experience is something called "An Investment Return" It happens and what Virgin media is doing is pulling most of the channels that were included in your NTL package. It works like this:

You have for example 50 channels on your NTL package (you may actually have more, but this is an example).

Virgin Media identify 30 channels as most watched.

They decide then to take the 15 most popular of those channls and add them to a higher premium package like V+

So the customer who want to see those channels have to pay higher premiums then they did before.
Thats how virgin get their money back.

Now what they suspect will happen is that alot of NTL customers will leave them in the next 2-3 months. but by having high glossy advertising they will counter that with thier so-called special deals. And as new customers are tied in for 12 months they still make their money.

Also new customers will pay extra to upgrade seeing as they are stuck with virgin for 12 months.

My advise is to stick with them for the rest of the term and then go to sky or pay to upgrade.

It's tough but frget the hype. Virgin doesn't let you watch what you want ot watch when you wnat to watch it....unlees you pay.

Maybe they would be in breach of contract if they promise certain specific services which they then fail to provide. ie If part of your sign-up package included music channels and the music channels are pulled, they are no long providing what they have promised in the initial agreement. This could be a problem for them. They will of course try to bull their way out of it.

It seems to me just like a free advertising campaign for them both.

I don't think Virgin would risk not having Sky One - they know that all the customers that can, will leave if they scrap sky one - I know I will.

Try not to worry about it, I really can't see it happening.

Don`t think it will happen, Sky and Virgin are in each others pockets and they need each other. Dont worry about it.
