My friend in class is a smart student, and she doesn't need to pay attention to understand the content. However, as smart as I am, I have noticed that the teacher drops hints on what's going to be on the test.

I really need to pay attention in this class. It's not that I can't learn it at home, it's that I WANT to pay attention!

My friend, who sits behind me, always passes me notes. She also taps me on the shoulder. When I turn around, the teacher gets angry at me. My friend keeps on doing this! I have told her once "Can't we just do this in social studies?" as a joke, but she didn't get the point.

I HAVE told her to stop many times, but this doesn't help!

I asked my teacher if I could change seats, believe me, I did. He said "Most definately not". I have asked him so much, he's getting annoyed!

I am afraid that one day he will find the notes that we pass. Those are personal, so it will embarrass me if it's about my crush or something. I can't concentate!

What can I say to her?

You have to be honest and straightforward with your friend. Tell her exactly what you just wrote. If she is a real friend she will understand and respect your wishes.
Did you tell your teacher why you wanted to change seats? It seems that if he knows you want to change seats so you can pay attention, he would gladly seat you somewhere else. He should be happy that you want to do well in his class and are interested in what he has to say.
If your friend won't listen to you and keeps passing notes, then don't take the notes from her anymore, and she'll get the point. Make sure to tell her that you're not trying to be mean, and ask her to save the notes until after class. Or just take the note, put it in your pocket and read it after class.

After class have a long talk with her and tell her straight foward that she is making it hard for you to learn and get good grades. Tell her that if she keeps doing this then you are not going to be friends with her or just going to ignore her. If you kept sitting straight and didn't turn around or accept the note and she is caught repeatedly tapping on your shoulder or with her arm stuck out with a note in it she will be the one in trouble not you. After class explain to your teacher why you want to change seats and maybe he can talk to her about this. Stand up to her. If she is that pushy then she obviously don't care if you do get bad grades. She isn't going to be there in the future when you are going to rely on what you have learned so don't let anyone screw up your education!!

First of all!!! I liked the joke SOCIAL studies!!! lol anyway... well you can do three things... you can TALK TO HER VERY SERIOUSLY!! IGNORE HER DURING CLASS!!OR TALK TO THE TEACHER!!! If you want to talk to her, which is the best choice out of the two... tell her that YOU NEED TO PAY ATTENTION and that she is been a distraction... tell her that you appreciate her as a friend... but she is really distracting you and getting you into trouble... tell her that you can talk during lunch or somewhere else but not in class.... other choice!! you can TALK to your teacher and EXPLAIN in DETAIL whats happening... tell him that you dont want to get in trouble and that your friend is distracting you.. and a change of seat ITS NEEDED IMMEDIATELY!!!!! also you can ignore your friend... which can bring problems with her.. but only ignore her if after you talked to her she keeps on doing the same thing!!!! IGNORE THE IGNORANT!! i know one of these choices are going to work... so good luck... any other questions e-mail me I AM HERE TO HELP EVERYONE!!

Start ignoring her and if she keeps tapping you or whatever then she will get the teachers attention and in trouble. Then talk to her seriously away from class when she is mad that you are ignoring her. If she is a real friend she will quit.

Go to the principal or just tell the teacher the sisuation about how you want to pay attention but can't bc of your friend and if the teacher says no again then go to the principal.

Just confide to her what you really need to do. Show to her how much it means to you to pay attention. Good luck! -^_^-
