FYI, I know the answer, and coinman090388 got it correct. This is not a homework question. Congradulations coinman090388 Once this question has existed for 4 hours, I can vote you as the best. Dedicated to you is a coin collectors question that I posted. It is 10 questions and they are all about U.S. coins and bills. The same rules apply. If you are the first to get this one 90% right and no one gets it 100% right, you win best answer. enjoy my game.

1) no sin^x-1 = cos^2x
2) no cotx = cosx/sinx
3)no sin^2x +cos^x = 1
4)no
5) tan 2x= sin2x/cos2x = 2sinx cosx / cos^2x-sin^2x
but cotx = cosx/sinx they are not equal
6)no sinx = 1/csc x
7)answer b csc^2x
8)cosx / sin x * sinx = cosx not eual 1- sinx wrong
9) no of course sin^2x = 1 / ( 1 + cot^2x) it doesnt go without power 2
10) sinx / (cosx/sinx) * ( 1 / sinx - 1 ) = sin^2x /cosx * (1-sinx)/sinx not equal right side
they are all wrong who messed up that much????

1) No; cos^2(x) = 1 - sin^2(x)
2) No; sin(x)/cos(x) = tan(x)
3) No; sin^2(x) + cos^2(x) = 1
4) No; sin^2(x) + cos^2(x) = 1, and sin(x) + cos(x) is not equal to sin^2(x) + cos^2(x)
5) No; cot(x) = cos(x)/sin(x), and tan^2(x) = sin^2(x)/cos^2(x)
6) No; sin(x) = 1/csc(x)
7) 1 + cot^2(x) = csc^2(x)
8) cot(x) sin(x) = cos(x), and cos(x) is NOT equal to 1 - sin(x), so the answer is no.
9) 1/(1 - cot(x)) = sin(x)/(sin(x) - 1); the answer is no.

10)

No; let x = pi/4.

LHS sin(pi/4)/cot(pi/4) * csc(pi/4) - 1
= sqrt(2)/2 * (2/sqrt(2) - 1)
= 1 - sqrt(2)/2

RHS = 1/(1 + cot(pi/2)) = 1/2

LHS not equal to RHS

Hmmm. Sounds like someone wants us to do homework.

I'll just start off each one.

1) sin^2 + cos^2 = 1
2) sin/cos = tan
3) (sin(45˚)+cos(45˚)= 1.4142135...)
4) see 1 and 3
5) tan^2 = sin^2 / cos^2 = (1+cos^2)/ cos^2
= (1/cos^2) + 1
6) 1/sin = csc
7) 1 + cos^2/sin^2 = 1 + (1-sin^2)/sin^2
= 1 + 1/sin^2 -1 = 1/sin^2 = (1/sin)^2
8) cot = cos/sin
9) 1 / (1+cot) = 1 / (1 + cos/sin) = 1 / ((sin+cos)/sin)
= sin/(sin+cos)
10) (sin^2/cos)*((1/sin)-1) = sin/cos - sin^2/cos =
(sin-sin^2)/cos = (sin/cos)*(1-sin)
