divide both sides of the equation by 8.5
x = 12
therefore marcus must work 12 hours

$ 102 divided by $ 8.50=

8.5 goes into 102

85 goes into 1020
85 goesinto 102 1 time 1 x 85=85
102-85=17 bring down the 0
85 goes into 170 2 times 2 x 85= 170

Work with your Units....

a) money/time ($8.50/hr)

b) You need to find hours (time) and your are given a result of $102 (Money)

if you divide your money (b) by your money/time you will get time

So think of it this way: What Time (X) multiplied by money/time equals $102

X * ($8.50)=$102

Solve for X
