With experienced mechanics, oil changes can easily take less than 10 min.
Because there are very few types of oil (though there are many brands and variations availiable) it isn't hard for mechanics and the people working with them to know what oil goes in nearly every vehicle.
There is synthetic and non-synthetic. Newer and high-end makes usually require synthetic (though some could run perfectly well on non-synthetic) and older vehicles non-synthetic (though some synthetics will improve the erformance of a tired engine.)
And the other major factor, viscossity (the thickness of the oil) is as easy to decide on, as figurng out what season it is - 5W30 for winter, 10W30 for summer.
Changing of the air filter is usually a standard practice with every other oil change. If the air is dusty where you drive, it will need to be changed more often. If they suggst you should change it, get them to show it to you. Think of it like a filter for your vacum, it would be nice if it were always perfectly white - and working perfectly - but costs can't be ignored.
No paperwork (aside from the bill)
All they need is the make of your car - which they can see for themselves.
10 min oil change = $20 - $35 depending on the class of shop/servic you prefer
You should change your oil every 5,000 km or as directed to by your owners manual.

Get a boyfriend to do it for you. 10 minutes is too quick for an oil change. I have had over-fills, under-fills, overtightened , stripped plugs & dry oil filter washers ( makes cool black stripe that chases you down road until you notice , if you're so lucky to notice). All these things happened to me & others & can cause real problems...which will be denied when you take the car back.
Word of mouth should be your guide. Find a real mechanic close to home or work if you must. Follow change interval in owners manual. Every 3K miles is B.S. follow the owner's manual. My VW said every 7K which I followed,DIY, using good oil & best filters for 180K miles with no problems.I drove it like I stole it.BTW It takes about 15 minutes for the gunky oil to thoroughly drain down.I witnessed these quick change artists do some sleight-of-hand when I opted for the premium oil (comes in quarts not the big tank in the back & not precisely measured). The guy was trying to hide the near three quarters of a quart of "extra" oil. They were not happy when I called 'em on it.

Yes, you drive up and the change the oil. They should know what type/filters/oil to use. You will have to fill out the service order, but it will only take a minute. It usually runs between $20 and $40 depending on the place, your car, and what type of oil and filter you need.
The frequency of your oil change depends on the type of car/engine and your driving habits. Typically if you drive mostly highway miles, you can wait a bit longer between oil changes. Many newer cars also allow for greater periods of times between oil changes. The older recommendation for cars was every 3,000 miles you drive, or every three months, depending on your driving habits. Unfortunately this is a really outdated guideline, and you could probably get away with a lot longer time (depending on your car and habits). Your owner's manual should have a recommendation in it for you.

My advice: Go to your car dealer for oil changes. You'll get the proper oil filter and maintain your powertrain warranty coverage.

You sit in your car, answer a few questions, and wait. Pray to whoever that they do it right, leaving the oil filter loose can cause serious damage.
