i want to start using cloth diapers...i am thinking of using pre-folds or contour cloth diapers with a wrap style velcro or snap cover to hold it in place because I don't want to use pins. Any one have experience with this...what is your favorite brand or style.

I use pin myself. I would think velcro would be easier, but who wants easy. The wringer/washer works great for cleaning, and the wood stove works great for drying.

I also use cloth diapers. My mom made me some velcro ones that fit just like disposables. I also bought some from Sears called Kushies. You can either buy the All-in-ones (with plastic pants attached) or buy the regular cloth ones and buy plastic pants. You NEED plastic pants or else pee will soak through the clothes. I just washed and dried them myself - not a big deal. If they start to get stained, lay them out in the sun and the stains will disappear and the diapers will also smell fresh. I wouldn't use bleach as it's too hard on baby's sensitive skin.

I didn't use cloth but my mom did on all of us and so did my best friend.

I'd say go witht he velcro type, that was what my friend used and when I changed her sons diaper it was easy. I rememebr changing my little siblings diaper growing up and poking them accidently :o

You can buy cloth diapers pretty much anywherre (wal-mart, target, babies r us)
I would say go with a diaper service, even if there is not one in your area a lot service places far away (my friend is over 3 hours from chicago and had a chicago diaper service.) then you don't have to worry about cleaning any of the dirty diapers or anything.

Also get those plastic pants that go over their daipers, they are helpful

I used cloth diapers on both of my babies, 30 and 27 yrs ago.
I loved using them. I would soak them in a diaper pail of hot water and add 1 cup of Borateem and 1 Cup of bleach. I just folded them myself so as my baby grew I could adjust how I folded them.
I washed them in hot water too using 1 cup of bleach and Ivory Snow Flakes. Do they even make them anymore?
But they would come out of the wash so soft.
I don't know how anyone uses disposable diapers.

We use a combo of prefolds with Bummis super Whisper wraps, Pocket diapers (Happy Heinys annd Fuzzi Bunz) and fitted with fleece pants (Zoom Baby Gear)

I used cloth 10+ years ago with my daughter and with my son who just turned 2.

Well, if you could, I'd say make your own. And I know a friend who uses velcro. It's easier to work with.

I'm using mainly prefolds (got them at http://www.weeones.biz ) and a Snappi. We use a "snappi" instead of pins, and wool covers or wraps (snaps or pull-on).

For outings though, we use Fuzzi Bunz - which I have gotten through http://www.punkinheadkids.com/ and http://www.jamtots.com
