Nobody likes to lose!! Everyone wants to win! Many people can't give credit when credit is due because it causes them to feel inadequate, like they're admitting that you're better than they are, or that you have something that they don't

It is a trap that we all fall into some time or other.
This person hasn't learned that the joy is in the competition, not in the ultimate results.
Someday, he will come to understand that if you give your all, but come up short, it doesn't mean that you are a loser. You just lost one competition. There will be another one in a few minutes.
That attitude comes with maturity. Your competitor hasn't reached that point yet.
