"DreamGirls" up for an academy award, or Jennifer Hudson....Annna Nicole Smith's probable suicide, Britney Spears' obvious breakdown....I mean, give me a break!!! Is this news???? Important???? Adding much to our lives???? Judi Dench does a good film "Notes on a Scandal" some serious acting, and Cate Blanchett, too, but will they win? There are wars, environmental troubles, great literature and art being made, we hear about Naomi Campbell throwing a tantrum!!! Michael Gambon is in a new movie, and he's great, but does it make news?Enrico Pieranuzzi's new quartet date get a mention? How about the Arthur Blythe and David Eyges duets? Or Philip Schulz's new book of poetry...what's up w/ Rita Dove? Enough FLUFF!!!!!!!!

Well not all Americans fall under that blanket. I am always irritated when I see "BREAKING NEWS!" alerts and find out it's something like Britney's in rehab again or someone else wants be Anna Nicole's baby daddy. I could care less; that's not breaking news!

These people sell themselves to the People through their films and publicity. This seems sad once they are exposed for all to see, but it is the price they are paying for the fame and money they were working so hard for...They get a lot of benefits too...

robert,

For someone who has a problem with 'fluff,' you seem to be up on all things fluffy.

Your post mentions people/events I've not heard of...
