What do you do when you have something in your eye and you cannot find it to get it out? And it has been an hour.

I have put eye drops in. Tried to let it pass on its own. I have tried to cry to let it naturally go. I have even used water to flush it out. But NOTHING is working.

My husband, a few years ago, had this same problem. He finally had to go to an eye doctor. They found a very, very tiny piece of glass lodged in his cornea. We have no idea how that happened but they just took a pair of tweezers and plucked it out. If this persists, I think you should see an eye doctor or even your family doctor.

OR...

Before you go to the doctor, take a clean tissue, fold it into a point (like the tip of a triangle) and pull down your lower eyelid and sweep the point across where the eye and lid meet.

OR...

You may have gotten what is in it out and your eye is just irritated.

OR...

You can "sweep" the inside of your upper eyelid by pulling your eyelid out by your eyelashes, not hard, and pull your eyelid down and over your bottom lashes. This uses your lower lashes to act like a sweeper if something is caught under your eyelid.

Finally, if it persists for much longer, see a doctor immediately.

First off, make sure you don't have any loose eyelashes or that they aren't going into your eye.

One thing that you can do is grab your upper eyelid, pull it down over the bottom eyelid. If the object is in your upper eyelid, it should knock it out.

The other possible thing is you don't have anything in your eye, just a scratch. Try flushing it some more and maybe a cold compress.

If you are still having problems, a trip to the doctor might be in order. I had contacts one time and I got cut on my eye. Thought for the longest time it was just a hair or something. Went to the doctor and had to get drops and rest the eye for a couple days (no contacts).

It sounds like you've tried everything on your own. Maybe try having a nap and hopefully when you wake up, the 'object' will be gone. If not, then you could go see your doctor to have a look. Do NOT rub your eye - if it's a foreign object (such as glass or metal) you could do serious damage to your eye. good luck!

It might be stuck way up, usually it will go away-even if it takes a few days. If it doesn't I would see a doctor.
