It is worth checking with Toyota. Since it's a safety device, and it has worn out before its time*, they may give you a break on replacing it. If you want to play hard ball, tell them you either want it replaced for free or you want something in writing saying that it is safe to use as is. If you're persistent, it might work, because they are not going to want to take on the liability of certifying a damaged seatbelt as safe. Worth a try, right?

*Assuming normal use. If your dog chewed it or something you're SOL.

Most vehicle warranties are for 3 years or 60,000 miles. Sometimes they will give 10 or 12 year warranties for things like the metalwork against corrorsion. If your seat belt does get in to poor condition, I should imagine it would fail its next M.O.T (in UK the annual vehicle condition test) and you would have to bear the cost of the repair yourself. Good luck.

Check the NTSB. I think that safety equipment must be warranted for 60,000 miles or 5 Years from date of first sale. It won't matter if your are the original owner or not. NTSB is The National Transportation Safety Board. I went through this with a 1997 escort (with the silly motorized seat belts), had to force the dealer to fix them.

i very highly doubt it. seatbelts arent covered unless it says so in the warranty.check your paperwork or check with the dealer to see the original warranty paper.
