Հայոց Ցեղասպանութիւն
The Republic of Turkey rejects the notion that the event constitutes genocide, claiming rather that the Armenian deaths were a result of inter-ethnic strife, disease and famine during the turmoil of World War I.
USA government supports the Republic of Turkey that does not accept that the deaths of Armenians are the results of an intention from Ottoman authorities.
By the way, Turks don't recognise the Pontic Greek Genocide also.

The turks have no reason to admit their role in the genocide of 1 1/2 million Armenians in the early 20th century as long as the US is willing to turn a blind eye. And, the US, needing the Turks as allies, is unwilling to say anything that might offend them.

Well unfortunately it is more important for the USA to have good relations with the turks for political reasons. They prefer to look the other way and pretend they are not aware of the violations of the human rights that Turkey has done to armenians and is still doing to Cypriots and Kurds.

I really don't know the U.S government's stance on the Armenian genocide, if they haven't officially recognized it, it's for political reasons.
The Turks won't admit it because they know they were wrong and the truth hurts.
Yes, Turkey committed Armenian genocide and are foolish to think that the rest of the world doesn't know it.

concern: in simple terms Nos. 3 & 5 are everywhere close to ascertainable. Nos. 2 & 4 are gross exaggerations, the figures pulled out of skinny air, or somebody's butt. Yours? No.a million flies spitefully in the face of settled actuality. no question. Turkey is a member--alongside the Nazis--of the genocide club. the reliable concern on a similar time as the Nazis under no circumstances have been given the prospect, Turkey has no longer performed something infamous on the grounds that. this is ethical progression.

Because the USA needs to keep those military bases in Turkey. So they do not want to upset the Turks.

Don't forget that fellow Assyrians were innocently murdered, 750,000 Assyrians were killed during the Assyrian Genocide which occurred simultaneously with the Armenian and Greek Genocides.
To answer your question: it won't affect them if they do.

How much attention do you want paid to past wrongs by Turkey? How about a major movie every 6 months. That should keep you mad at the Turks for a few more generations.

A very large percentage of U.S. citizens who know about the massacre of possibly over a million Armenians do recognize that it was a genocide...a holocaust. :(
What our government recognizes is a different story. The U.S. government is no longer we the people. Elections were stolen. :0
