you need to have common terms to compare.... either both decimal or both fractions.
5/8 = 0.625
now you can compare 0.625 and 0.62
0.625 > 0.62

I'll use ? to replace the unknown symbol

5/8 ? 0.62

Multiply both sides by 8: Multiplying by a positive number does not change the symbol.

5 ? 4.96

We know that 5 is greater than 4.96, so we write

5 > 4.96
(hint, the "greater" opening of the symbol faces the greater value).

Now, divide by 8 (dividing by a positive number does not change the sign):

5/8 > 0.62

---

We could have solved directly by knowing that 5/8 = 0.625 but that would have been too easy and not enough fun.
