You need two three-way switches which can be bought at any hardware store. You connect them in series the same way as shown on this page:

look for the graphic that follows this text: "By connecting two of these switches together back-to-back, it can be arranged that toggling either switch changes the state of the light from off to on, or on to off:"

You will need two way switches and four core cable to connect them. You *must* observe the colour coding rules in the UK.

You supply the neutral unswitched to the light. The live goes from the light and to the switch. See the diagram below for wiring using harmonised UK colours.

Be aware in the UK it is an offence to carry out electrical work if you are not competent, and you must involve building control if you are not licenced to self certify work.

Don't try the hook-up resident_... drew for you. Big arcs & sparks if you close switch B.

But don't be too hard on her, I notice this is her first day on Yahoo.

A and B are switches in parallel, so either switch you turn on will complete the circuit.
