Hi,
Over time, my guitar has lost clarity of tone on the upper frets of the higher pitched strings. When I play on these upper frets, the tone gets to be very distorted instead of clean like the lower strings. I thought that it might be something with the string touching the frets, because they had rusted a little bit, but even after cleaning this persisted. Any ideas as to what might be causing this? Does anyone know of a website that offers maintenance directions? I would like to take it to a shop, but if it's something I can handle myself, I would love to learn. Thank you!!

you need to adjust the trust rod...did you recently change gauge of string or something? Most music shops can adjust the trust rod pretty easily...I wouldn't do it yourself

rusted? um, new strings might be in order. Have u checked to make sure the strings arent touching the frets or did u just clean them and assume they werent? The neck might have warped some and be causing the strings to be too close.

Sounds like your neck needs to be adjusted. I'd take it to a shop and get it set up.
