I just watched a clip on Yahoo sports and his voice alone is very annoying. Then it gets even worse when he screams after the Sabres score!!! I guess you would get used to it after a while???

I don't care if he was voted the best announcer in all of sports, HE HAS AN ANNOYING VOICE AND IT'S EVEN MORE ANNOYING WHEN HE SCREAMS!

No I'm not a Sabre fan, I'm a fan of Hockey in general. There are teams I like and dislike. The Sabre's have a good team this year and hopefully won't choke in the playoffs again! If I was a Sabre fan, and was forced to watch every game I WOULD TURN DOWN THE VOLUME!

He's a very good announcer BUT you are correct he has one of the most annoying voices there is. Whenever it looks like the Sabres might score I mute the Tv because I HATE the way his voice sounds when he says "He scores".

I'm a Sabres fan, but how do you think he is annoying? What commentators that are excited for BOTH teams? It's called showing love for your sport, and supporting your home team. He makes the game more fun and more interesting than it really is. I guarentee that if you had him as a commentator, you'd eventually love him also. Most people hate him, but they don't realize that he is the longest tenured broadcaster in the NHL on television and radio, and has been part of the Sabres for over 30 years. When the Sabres score, he makes it more fun, and he makes the game better in general. Plus, Rick Jeanneret will easily make the Hall Of Fame, unlike most other commentators, and I'd bet my life on that.

I'm not a sabres fan but I really like thier announcer. Rick Jeaneret and Pittsburgh's Mike Lange are two guys that bring such colour and emotion to their play calling that you can't help but like them.

You've also got to remember that they are broadcasting to hometown fans. Fans want to hear and feel the emotion of all their teams goals and highlights to replicate the feeling of what's going on in the building.

Harry Neale and Bob Cole of the CBC. Now there's annoying.

Rick Jeanneret is one of the most respected people in sports announcing. I know you're probably used to the ESPN and Versus announcers that do anything but call the game, up to and including discussing things that have absolutely nothing to do with hockey while play is going on, so maybe that's why you can't take an announcer who actually does his job. Ask anyone from Western New York, and they'll be able to rattle off a famous Jeanneret call, "MAYDAY!" or "TOP SHELF WHERE MOMMA HIDES THE COOKIES!" or "NOW DO YOU BELIEVE?!" or, my personal favorite, although we won't hear any more of it this season thanks to the injury bug, "IF YOU'RE OUT AND ABOUT, GIVE A HONK FOR THE GOOSE!" Jeanneret is a local legend, so much so that he has put out a CD and DVD compilation of his most famous calls and Sabres moments to raise money for the Sabres Foundation charity. I think almost every Buffalo Sabres fan would agree with me when I say that Rick Jeanneret is sportscasting royalty, and anyone who thinks otherwise must not know or appreciate hockey very much at all. I would take a bullet for Rick Jeanneret!

Anyone who thinks Rick Jeanneret is annoying should have their face cut off. He is the best announcer in the world for the best team. And you dont have to be a Sabres fan to agree with that. He doesnt even compare to these new announcers who f-ing sell out and talk about everything from the backup goalie's parents to Gary Bettman's latest haircut instead of calling the game. Annoying???? ITS CALLED PASSION!!!!! anyone that had any for the game would see it in him....

Rick Jeaneret is good but Rob Ray should be replaced. I usually watch with the sound off as he is annoying.

he is a great announcer that actually calls the game, a lot of announcers just spout off useless facts during the game. listen to him announce and you'll see he knows just about every hockey players name. most others barely know any players from the apposing teams.

I think anyone associated with the Sabres (fans, players, announcers) is annoying.

Being in Pittsburgh, all I get to hear are his occasional goal calls on Sportcenter (ESPN Radio), and I didn't find him annoying....quite the contrary, I find him entertaining...wouldn't trade him for Mike Lange, though...how can you top a goal call like...

"Hop in the Cordoba, baby, we're goin' bowling," or
"He smoked him like a bad cigar."
I guess we're spoiled down here. But I like Rick Jennerette's (?) goal calls...what's wrong with getting fired up?
