I recently took a "break" from a 4 year university! Moved back home with my parents, have struggled to find a job, or even do much more than to lay around all day! My mom wants me to finish school because they paid for it, I joined the air force without telling them and just got their blessing today! My mom is afraid she will regret her decision i will admit. The Bush Administration has not been very diplomatics! But I'm only 20 and looking for suggestions, not idiotic ones i can think of enough of those on my own! The only reason I'm having second thoughts on the air force is because I don't want my mom to be hurt if anything happens to me! I've tried looking for a job many days in a row and have not found one, this is the first time I have ever had this issue. I tried going back to school but its not where I want to be right now but i do eventually, I just don't have the motivation for school right now, cuz i don't know what i want to do so I feel like i'm wasting time and money!

I'm only in DEP and you are allowed out of the DEP program you could not show up to ship out and nothing happens... because until you go to MEPS and swear in one last time... they don't own you yet!

I have two children in the military (neither Air Force) and both say that the Air Force is the safest. I am all for the military until/while you can decide on something in life. Doing nothing is not healthy mentally or physically. I would encourage you to go. There is so many jobs to choose from there also.
My son has been deployed two times. Yes, I worried. But you could get killed in a car your parents were driving and they would never forgive themselves. Life has no guarentees.
Best of luck to you.

If YOU want to join the Air Force, then do it. When you get out, you will be able to go to school (if that's what you want) on the G.I. Bill. I have been in similar situation (I just started back to school 15 years later - but I am ready now!).

It would be a nice gesture to your parents to send them a small amount of your pay check each month ($25 - $50) to "repay" them for the money spent on school. They will appreciate it, and probably tell you not to do it!

Sitting around on the couch isn't going to get you anywhere (I know, I've tried it) and neither is a dead-end job.

Go for it!

Well buddy you are in Air Force now whether you want to decide or not, you joined so get ready to start marching. Forget school , forget wondering whether you want this or not. Bush owns you now and you will go or you will go to Military prison on a Court Marshall and you will stay a long, long time. So grab that uniform , get that rifle and away to Iraq you will fly. I wish the best of luck and maybe you'll like it, but I sure wish you would talked to someone before joining the Air force because it gets hot.

If you've already joined the Air Force then you have to follow through. Sounds to me like getting yourself into a structured environment will get you out of the funk you're in. Go to the Air Force and be prepared to become a more productive person.

God Bless.

try as hard as you can to be a steward on air force one. If you can get that gig you will love being in the air-force you will hang with pilots all over the world and no one (and I mean no one )shoots at air force one. When you get out of the air force you can be a stewardess captain and training supervisor for one of the international airlines and it's all good....Fun and you only work an hour before the plane takes off till an hour after the plane touches down.... Enjoy

Your chances of being hit by a car in front of your house are higher than getting hurt or worse by being in the air force. Your pretty young and its hard to find your way when your young but you really need to do what YOU want, because it is your life. Do not go back to school UNLESS your really ready because you wont finish if you dont really want to be there. THey gave you your military blessing today...take it and b'well

The school is a way to go, if you don't see your self there then may be it wont work out, but remeber most like you wont go after, it's gonna be frader later to go to school, rather then now. Airforce is hard and scary, but look you have to do what you want in this life, let it be for a year but at leat you fullfilled your wish and happy, and wont regret for the rest of you life.
