xbox 360 live help?

i connected the ethernet cable to the modem and xbox. the connection test works, but when i try to log onto xboxlive it says i hav to download an update. it starts to download and then it stops and says "unable to download". now i cant connect to live at all! what do i need to do?

switch all the switchs off at the wall and try again me son had to do that for his to work

Some times this happens just try to download it again, it make more then 1 attempt but it finally does it. Also make sure you modem is working correctly and you should use a router to connect your modem and Xbox 360 together.

the updates are only for backward compatibility for old games and other Live features, you should just keep tryin to download and if the problem persists call Xbox,the numbers in the booklet,its a 1800 number so its free, i take it ure from Ireland like me!
When you download make sure you dont use the computer, and if your usin wireless adapter try to use the eternet cable as its faster. It could also be a problem with your Broadband settings, go to your settings and try to fix it if its theer but dont mess around as it could F**K up your Broadband. And what broadband speed do you use?

You can get a wireless adapter for the xbox, but that's expensive (around 100$). Another option, is connecting a laptop to the xbox and using it as a wireless adapter with ICS (internet connection sharing) - search youtube for it if you are interested in that. Another option can be using a switch, which is like a "station" for the cable, where you can connect another cable from it to your computer, but buying a longer ethernet cable is more simple - you can get one in any normal computer / gamers store.
