A friend and I are going to Seattle for a day, any suggestions? We are interested in folk art, Asian, and Native American culture. Not really into night life, bars, clubs, etc. We plan to visit Chinatown, Pike's Place, and the Asian museum. Anyone familiar with Seattle have any additional suggestions? Thanks --

Pike's Place is a must... it's very Seattle. A trip up the Space Needle may be kind of spendy, but the view is worth the cost. The Seattle Art Museum is pretty cool, and I think you'd enjoy it. If you can arrange it, you might want to take a ferry to Tillicum Village (google it). If you're interested in Native American history is an ideal place to visit and is only an hour ferry ride away. Also, the Ferry Terminal isn't far from Chinatown, so that would be a good fit. You'd enjoy going to the top of the Smith Tower. It's viewing room is very asian inspired. have a wonderful time!

I went to Seattle a couple of years ago around that time....it's cold, so wear something warm...but it is one of the most beautiful cities I have ever seen....you will have to of course see the Space Needle, and the zoo...the science museum is kind of neat...the inlet cruises....Pike's Market, the Aquarium - a horse and carriage ride around the city....do the coffee shops, and do some great shopping....it's just a really cool place. I hope to get there again (I am from the east coast.)

The EMP (Experience Music Project) is always a hit in Seattle and they are always changing so you can see new things! On March 1st (thursday) they have an all-access night with free admission! Also, if you like the outdoors, the Japanese Gardens are fun to visit and it is right next to the Arboretum which is a huge and beautiful place to walk. Have a great trip!

Whatever you do, don't plan to be outside, as rain is almost guaranteed. You sound as if you have a good idea of where to go, and if you are only coming out for one day, that is more than enough.

HOWEVER

I do recommend you come back for a day during Folk Life. It's a great experience, and worth checking out, but it's not until May (sun!).
