Helen of Troy was supposed to be the most beautiful woman of her time "having a face that launched a thousand ships." The Iliad, an epic, was written by a Greek. Now, i am not making a generalization that all people in certain places look a specific way. But generally, Greeks have darker features, were most likely not blondes.
Often times in movies liberties are taken on how characters are supposed to look. I know of no passages in the Iliad that describes word for word what Helen looked like - just that she was beautiful. But if you wish to scan yourself for a physical description of Helen, i have included a link

Probably not, not a whole lot of natural blondes in the central meditteranean. All my greek friends (that are women) are exceptionally tall with olive skin and very curly thick black hair.

Considering she is Greek, i would say she had dark hair.......... however being the daughter of a God(Zeus), it is possible she had blonde hair, and that could be why, people say she was the most beautiful woman. People seem to forget she was fathered by a god.

don't think the original author ever actually said one way or the other. People just falsely assume that you have to be a blonde to be beautiful.

Unknown. Hesiod refers to her as "rich haired". That would generally mean darker haired.
