There is no minimum charge, so garages can give free Mot's if they wish. There is a maximum charge of £50.35 for class 4 vehicles.

A garage can actually charge what it likes, but not over the VOSA guidelines which I believe is £50 thereabouts. Some will have special offers and smaller non franchised garages have been known to charge as little as £20 - £30. The charge has been hiked several times recently............ the garage I work for offers free MOT's to people who buy used cars from them.

When I bought my Honda (New) It came with a card from the company who sold it providing FREE MOTs for life. That is also transferable if I sell the car, a nice touch wouldn't you say.
