Welcome to the real world. Sorry, but its market forces and one day, the whole of the British economy will be controlled by cheaper third world countries. Can you imagine anyone wanting to buy a £500.00 British tv when they can buy it for £150.00 fromthe far east?.

it has been happening for two years now and it has caught up with you John and you are not on your own by thousands of people who are in the same position. We have priced ourselves out of the world market and ones mind goes back to all the strikes in the 60/70s and the general public would very often say we will pay for this. Well its here and although some folk will not see the connection and it might have been a lot worse had not Mrs Thatcher put a stop to it so we can only look to the future with hope that this country can do a turn around

UK cost of living is already one of the highest in Europe.

Saw a TV program just now where people live in France and COMMUTE to work in London because it's 40% cheaper over there ...

Do we REALLY want to push our cost of living even higher ?

This is what's stopping us competing - if our cost of living is ten times what it is in India or China, then we have to pay our workforce ten times the wages (plus a lot more so it can be Taxed off them and wasted by the Government)

We have simply priced & Taxed ourselves out of the market.

China is a rising super power, inivative ideas etc. Why can't the UK learn from them? Understandably China is one of the few places in the world where living expences are more there than the UK, these factors taken into considderation rather than pointing out the many imperfections of world finance we should try to learn from them.
