i have heard that napa makes employees overtime "disappear",plus there were 2 napa employees hurt on the job last year in columbus.napa turned there back on both of them.these actions obviously come from high up in management.they have been sued in indiana for screwing employees out of overtime.i think there gonna go the way of ford and chrysler.why are these corporate people so evil?????
is all of corporate america like this?

i worked for napa back in the 80's in columbus.first, you have to know the differance between company owned napa's and indepently owned napa's.you will only find company owned stores in major cities like atlanta, dallas, chicago, columbus.
all the small town napa's and indepently owned by what they call
"jobbers".it is true napa has been sticking it to there hourly employees for years, but sadly this goes on at every major company in the world, especially in the u.s. people on the outside of napa never hear anything about it.the napa high ups in atlanta hire hatchet men they call district managers, all of these guys make over 300k a year.there sole job is to keep costs down.i have seen many, many napa employees put in over 50 hrs a week and only get paid for 40.napa's answer was if u want the job u will do what youre told and not complain.at least thats how it was in '88 my last year there.i would say 90 percent of the district managers are truly evil, money is there god and they will do anything for that huge check they get.thats why you will notice most of napa's delivery trucks in columbus have bald tires, little or no brakes, old beat up trucks.its really a shame, but they dont want to spend any money.so they will put lives at risk and if someone gets hurt they will blame the person that got hurt.i remember a guy that worked at napa in 1985 that fell off of a ladder at the warehouse because someone bumped into it,he got hurt pretty bad and they fired the guy that got hurt and wouldnt pay his medical.he had to sue them to get any kinda help.it is true they have good parts, but just remember next time you go in there, the avg joe behind the counter is getting treated like a dog.but its not just napa, its any company that has a board of directors, the bottom line is profits and thats all they care about.
we're always gonna have greedy, uncaring people in the world, not much you can do about it.
just my 2cents

NAPA is more expensive, but you usually get good parts and the people know what they are doing. I've only been to O'Reilys once and it seemed alright. Auto Zone has super cheap parts, but be sure you know exactly what you need because most of the people who work there are not so bright all the time. My rule of thumb: If I know the part I need, I go to Auto Zone and get the part for a great deal. If I don't know the part I need or am very confused about something, I spend the extra money at Napa for the good service and smart employees.

my husband works for napa in columbus,he says everything you say is true but he doesnt wanna answer so he asked me.he says there are too many people in the office and not enough in the stores, which i think is true,i never go in there but maybe once a year.from what i can see, alot of theres alot of salaried people in the office on 161 that really dont do anything.they got the job beause they knew someone or were related to someone or whatever.my husband is a store manager that works 60 hours a week at least, usually more.they put way too much pressure on store managers to make sales when thats really not his job.i asked him about the overtime thing in indiana,he says its true there and here too.its sad,but thats how corporate america affords to buy all there yachts.thats just how i see it.ive been begging him to quit there for years but he says we need the money.i dont buy auto parts or work on cars so i dont know anything about parts,i only know how the treat him which is like the other guy said, like a dog.

Depends on your source but NAPA has been one of the most trusted auto parts companys for over 50 years. Quality parts at a fair price.

As with any big company with deep pockets, there may very well be a lawsuit or 2 around. No big company does without one. Walmart has been sued dozens of times and is still around and people shop there.

a good friend of mine worked at napa for 17 years.one day he got robbed at work and beat up pretty good.napa wouldnt pay his medical or help him at all because they said he knew the guy.i couldnt believe it.can you imagine that? i geuss he is sueing them.napa will drag it out for years im sure.no one from napa ever visited him in the hospital or at his house.they sent him a cheap get well soon card and that was it.i think they have good parts, but it is very much true they treat there employees like crap.
i have never heard of any company that wouldnt help a employee that got robbed and visciously beaten up at work because he vaguely knew the guy that happened to be a customer and was on drugs.i cant believe how evil these corporate people are.
go to o'reillys, there much better parts and good place to shop.

Thanks for the info, I'm going to look it up. Was it Columbus, OH or GA, or where? I have family in Columbus, OH and I'd like to pass the info on to them, too.
Unfortunately these big corporations do SEEM to like to take advantage of "the little people" --even the ones that work for them-- but what else can we expect when the leader of the free world behaves like a bully and operates in a manner that is self-serving, why shouldn't corporate ceo's do the same? Not only is this type of business practice accepted, it's encouraged.

No way hubby has to special order parts for his 1956 car, Napa is the only store that sell those parts.
