too bad your mother wasn't barren

:(

Of course it's a woman's duty. And if a woman cannot make babies, we should take her out to the village square, tie her up and and stone her to death... you know, put her out of her misery and save her husband any future embarassment. That way, the husband can get a new wife who can reproduce.

Did not like this question. I really, really hope this is a "just wondering" question and not something you really believe in. If this is your belief, I have just lost all respect for you.

I'm surprised you would ask such an insensitive question in the first place. If there is a woman on here reading this who is having difficulty conceiving, she sure doesn't need you to remind her of it.

I might not be able to have children, but it is far from shameful. It is simply life. In the event I want children and cannot have them myself, I will seek other options such as adoption.

I don't think that it is a woman's duty to bear children. It is her choice. She should not be forced to have children or shamed in to having children.

Why should a barren woman be ashamed of being barren? It's not as if she made a conscious effort to be sterile.

Well, given how women are the half that CAN produce children, yes, I believe it is our responsibility. However, I do not think a woman who cannot produce a child is shameful; I think she is unfortunate.

it is a choice and no it is not shameful. I am trying to decide if I want them or not....I teach first graders all day and I cannot imagine having to come home and deal with kids.

a woman giving children is simply adding more to the population. she is not defined just because she has children.

Depends on whom you ask. The "majority" of the worlds population would agree with you. That majority is not on this site.

I don't think anyone has a set role. You can always choose death.

No, not at all. I'm one of those women who doesn't want kids and I think it comes down to choice - people need to do what's best for themselves personally.
