Hi,

I was in an accident and had emergency surgery while I was traveling in S. America. I'm fine now but I suspect I might have had a miscarriage during the orderal. Things were conducted in another language and the situation was crazy and I don't even remember much of what happened as I was unconscious most of the time. I didn't know I was pregnant, but that was a possibility. And if I was, I would only have been pregnant for 2 or 3 weeks max. Maybe less. The doctors there mentioned abnormal bleeding and questioned my boyfriend a lot about if I was pregnant. That's why I suspect. This whole ordeal was about 5 weeks ago. Can a gyno still detect if I had had a miscarriage? I want to know for my peace of mind. Thanks.

I wouldn't think so at this point, however, if you were treated in another country, I would contact your gyno here and make an appt. If you did miscarry, did they do a D&C on you, or do you know? If a D&C was not performed, you may need one now to prevent problems later on, call your doc, I think that's best.

Sorry, there would be no way to tell now. The pregnancy hormone only stays in your system for about a week, but becasue you were only 2 or 3 weeks along, it wouldn't have been detectable anyway.
