How does it work, how does it pass down? What comes along with it?

What comes along with it means...how does it influence you? Do any other traits tend to come along with it?

Depression is now known to be mainly a function of body chemistry and how sensitive your brain is to certain hormones and chemicals.
This tendency is passed down through the genes.

Not sure by what you mean-- "what comes along with it"...

EDIT:
As far as any other traits that come along with it, I have not seen any in my own family. We all tend to process chemicals (medication and such) much more sensitively. Most of my aunts, uncles and cousins do struggle with depression and most are on anti-depressants.
OH-- one things that has come along with the depression is a tendancy towards Fibromyalgia. My cousin and I both have it (depression and FM).

Hope that helps!

When you look at your parents and realize you may turn out just like them, it depresses you. Just kidding.
