Yes, to be a matter of fact. It is ruining politics in America. Only those with money or with big money backing them will be able to run. And, most of the big money comes from the big oil industry, the military industrial complex interests/businesses, the pharmacuetical industry, telecommunications industry, coal and mining industries, insurance industries and Wall Street. To say that these politicians are for the people, by the people and of the people no longer applies. They are for the corporation, by the oil industry for the military industrial complex. We are fed the illusion through corporate media that we still have a fair and equal and democratic system. That same corporate media is from the same corporate interests that I listed above. GE, for example, owns NBC which also owns military industrial interests in weapons development and nuclear weapons development. They were one of Ronald Reagan's and GWB's biggest supporters. And, now you have the Saudi's having huge amounts invested in Halliburton, Bechtel and the Carlysle group and they are making the most money off this war now. At the same time they are funding and arming the Sunni's in Iraq who are killing our soldiers. The Saudi's are also like family to the Bush family. So, anyone who thinks this is a government that gives a damn about the American people, you should have learned that lesson during Katrina that it doesn't give one sh*t about you, except when it is time to get your vote. Or if you live in Florida and have a disaster that needs to be funded right away because brother Jeb Bush might run in 2012.

The fact that its all about money should make us all shudder. The idea the the love of money is the root of all evil, that it may be harder for a rich person to attain heaven than it would be for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle should tell us something important.

Recently I viewed an interview with the CEO/ owner of Whole Foods Markets. He related that he is taking no money from the business. When asked why not,, by the interviewer, his response was" because I have Enough".

Enough is not a word that we use very much. We mostly want more and more and ..bigger and bigger etc. ... Bigger Superbowl halftime shows, Bigger Olympic ending Shows, Bigger Campaign shows. More money seems to be the mantra. I wonder who found more happiness the Michael Eisners(at 500 million a year) and Enron crooks, who had to maniacally find new a innovative ways to accumulate hundreds of millions of dollars or mother Teresa and her small band of angels. Who found happiness?
No, money is not only ruining politics, the maniacal quest for it, is killing all of us and will eventually destroy the whole Earth.

Where have you been the last two hundred years? If Vilsack was such a good candidate I believe people would have given him campaign contributions. To answer your question though, no I don't think so, it is an unfortunate side effect of the system, but it also tests another ability of the candidate, apparently Mr. Vilsack did not past the test.

Just remember though, we do elect the people who represent us, if we don't like them we have the ability to remove them.

The way we finance elections is a shame. How can you have any politician be unbiased when he gets thousands from corporations? We need to public ally finance campaigns so that the big money cannot buy our politicians. That goes for Corporations, Unions, or PACs. Until then the laws will be bought by the highest bidders.

It is a shame that one needs money to run for political office--but that is what happens. I do believe that is why we don't get more representatives of the average American into power. Money should have no bearing on who becomes an elected official.
