Let me start off by saying I'm a democrat.. I don't claim to represent my party.. I claim that it represents me, and I represent myself... the other day I sent an email to a few prominent republican posters on here.. and they were both astounded that I didn't curse at them or name call ... and they were both very positive in their responses to me... that made me wonder who had actually been emailing them in the past to give them such a bad taste for liberals... for whoever it was obviously is not a true liberal..so the question is.. how many people on here actually represent their ideology... I feel we have a silent majority that do followed by a vocal minority that do not.. how about you? this applies to all parties, seeing as how I'm sure the distribution is equal

I'm a Republican, and I don't necessarily claim to represent my party but I AM quick to call Bush-bashers on the carpet or to dispel misinformation that I see coming from the left. The main problem I have seen with those representing the liberal ideology here is that they don't criticize constructively. They basically say "Bush is an idiot" and "We're fighting a war for oil" and that's about the extent of it. They provide no facts to back up their assertions, they post so-called "quotes" from supposedly reputable sources (and when I say "Cite your source" they can't) and they offer no solutions to the problems they complain about. Just ONCE I would like to come across a liberal who can defend his/her positions objectively with cogent, intelligent arguments because I'd actually like to have a reasonable, intelligent debate with a liberal. Now, I will admit that I get very vocal and engage in name-calling, but I learned long ago that the only way to attack stupidity and ignorance is with ignorance and stupidity -- that's all these people understand!

You bet.

Stand up for what you believe in! We all don't have to get along, but it is important to be civil!

And it is refreshing to see a well spoken Dem, NOT spewing hate and name calling. I know there are others like you, but remember the whole Democrat party used to be like that! The far leftists in the party are trying to take over, or have been for a long time, and just now are getting some traction. I don't think it will last though... The party will have to swing back to the center at some point.

I know, lots of name calling from the Republican side also, but I really don't see as much craziness, and name calling, and just downright vileness coming from Republicans.

Keep up the good fight!

In the final analysis, we're all Americans -- and most of us are decent, law-abiding, tax-paying citizens who would help our neighbor without reservation.

I really believe that. (I'm a Democrat, too; was a Republican for 20 years until 2001.)

Staying above the fray has worked for Bush. Maybe it will work for you as well, who knows... Thank you for being a liberal who actually does at least appear to accept diversity, as the rest of your fellow ideologues claim to do.

One guestion....

If you don't represent the democrat party but it represents you --- how can you represent yourself?

The funny thing is I often listen to liberals and think to myself "What circular logic!". This is a prime example.
