I'd like to see what your take is on the whole Manny Ramirez Spring Training/helping his mother recover from surgery/making an appearance at an auto show situation...here is a article from CNNSI, which is posing the question of whether he should be traded or not....

Now, I am a big Manny Ramirez fan, and he much like many other superstars in MLB routinely show up late for spring training. I mean, this should come as no surprise to the media that Manny does his own thing in getting prepared for the season. This guy is one of the greatest offensive players in the history of MLB (IMO)....I am sure this is a non-issue to those on the Sox, because you know what you are getting with Manny...anyways, what's your take on all of this?
Now I'm not much for "star treatment", but he has a reason, and it's two weeks. He's Manny Ramirez, I'm pretty sure he'll be alright one way or another.

He doesn't have to report until March 1 per the Basic Agreement. He let the Red Sox know he wasn't going to be there until March 1. So long as he's not breaking the law, WHO CARES?

This is just the media puffing up another Manny story.

When will the media grow up? This thing is just another story the media will eat up and make a big deal about. Manny was late for Spring Training last year, for little reason, and the Sox still kept him.

He is out because his mother had surgery. You would be a fool, if you let your mother stay in the hospital while not making a big deal about it. Manny is playing roll of a god son, and family member.

Besides, he will still return to Spring Training, when the time runs out on the 1st. He won't miss any season games, or any important events or practices. He will be just fine.

And why would the Red Sox trade him? He is a great hitter and will be for the next two years. He will return same old Manny, and come and get hits when we need him to.

The media and some fans need to grow up!

I think this whole manny ramirez thing is getting out of hand. If it was a rookie or any other player they would not get away with it. All of this will come down to if he goes to the car show or not. He does produce when he does. But i think the red sox should put a limit on him. he doesnt try his hardest unless he has to, and if there out then he doesnt try at all

he would be a better player if he tried harder. maybe the best in the league

He's Manny Ramirez....I mean, you have to expect some breaks for the guy. D-Wade gets foul calls that dont exist, Tank Johnson can play in the Superbowl after being charged with weapons, Tom Brady can have a kid with a famous actress and then dump her for an underwear model....I mean shoot, hes a star. Manny has every right to do what HE feels is best for him. If he comes out and has a terrible year, then someone can criticize him, but this is Manny we're talking about, and what else are we talking about, "Practice, man....We're talking about practice....I mean, what are we talking about here? We talking about practice? Practice!?....We're talking about practice, man....we're talking about practice....not the game....not the game......practice....." and so on

If Houston was alright with Roger Clemens not starting until June and then only traveling with the team for his starts and then paying him 16 million for the abbreviated season, then its perfectly ok with me that Manny appears at an Auto show to sell his cars or whatever.

everyone just pipe down with this "manny being manny" stuff...he just likes the media spotlight and everyone to be talking about what he is doing...he makes media fodder constantly with his strange antics, and because of this he is overrated by almost everybody as an actual on-field player...they refuse to acknowledge his declining ability to catch up with the fastball, and his horrid fielding skills

If Bonds can get away with what he is doing why should any one care what Ramirez is doing.. I would take Ramirez on my team over Bonds any day.
