Depends on the size of the bag. A yard is 27 cubic feet, so check the bag for how many cubic feet of concrete it will provide, and figure it from there.

An 80 lb bag provides about 0.6 cubic feet of cured concrete. A 60 lb bag provides about 0.45 cubic feet. Or for reference, there are 3600 lbs of dry concrete mix in a cubic yard, so divide 3600 by the size of the bag to get how many you need.

80 lb bag = 45 bags
60 lb bag = 60 bags

You may look into having pre-mixed concrete delivered if you have a large area, it may be cheaper, and a lot less work.

an 80 lb. bag will do 2/3 of a cubic ft. i think i had it figured a while back at about 54 or so bags...its a lot cheaper to call the concrete plant and see if you can get a split load. that is see if someone close by is pouring and they will put both loads on the same truck...just hope the first guy doesnt take too long unloading his so you dont get a hot load...if what you are doing can be done quickly you'll be ok. if i need a small amount i go to the plant when they are pouring tanks and take a couple of 55 gal. drums. then i only get charged for the concrete and not the delivery charge. small amounts are a pain but you can find ways...call the plant and talk to them ,usually they will work with you.

Either way, you're going to be doing a lot of "lugging." You could always rent a concrete mixer which would make the job pretty easy. Measure the water so that you know just how much to put into each batch. Once you have a system down, it goes pretty quick.

A yard of concrete is 3feet by 3feet by 3feet which equals 27 cubic feet. Sacks of concrete come in different sizes. But you should be able to do the rest of the math.

This depends on how wide and how deep you want it. I suggest contacted the National Ready Mix Concrete Association at www.nrmca.org.
