mark copani, aka muhammad hassan, left wrestling.

if you recall, there was a very big controversy with him on smackdown!, when 5 masked "terrorists" came out and ambushed the undertaker, carrying him out of the arena. upn viewers did not like that at all (because it was right at the time of the London terrorist bombings) and complained to the network. the network told the wwe they did not want muhammad hassan on tv anymore. as such, the wwe "killed off" hassan when the undertaker power bombed him onto a concrete floor.

now, the wwe never intended on getting rid of mark copani. they wanted copani (along with daivari) to go down to ohio valley wrestling for a character rebuild. however, copani declined, opting to try his hand at acting instead.

from a personal standpoint, i was very very upset when they took muhammad hassan of television. i felt hassan was one of the best wwe characters to come around in 10 years. he was excellent on the mic, had some good wrestling ability, and was a super heel. but no one understood him. everyone thought he was a terrorist, and couldn't see what his character really was...an american arab who was angry at his country for being prejudice against him and his people. there was nothing terrorist about him. but people were way too sensitive.

anyway, that was my rant.

UPN was unhappy with the character because he was being portrayed and a Arab at a time when terrorism was a big topic in our country. Due to the pressure from UPN, WWE removed Hassan from the program. The sad part is before this happened he was booked to win the World Title at Summer Slam 2005.

Him and WWE split on amicable terms, but his charcter was too offensive for some( remember the London attacks?) well yeah they released him but on good terms, noe he will be pursuing acting.
