Abraham Lincoln, George Washington, FDR, James Madison, Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, JFK, Dwight Eisenhower, Harry Truman, and on and on and on--but I know you aren't serious. Because if you were serious, this would be a stupid question. Serving as Governor of Texas is a qualification, but others have had more experience. Dedication is taking fewer vacations. I get 2 weeks--why can't he limit himself to 2 weeks plus all the federal holidays? He has compassion at times for certain people and certain issues, but Lincoln agonized over both slavery and the civil war and refused to retaliate against the Confederacy. Washington suffered because of the lack of food and housing for the Revolutionary army. Truman reached out to the defeated Axis nations with the Marshall Plan.

What makes Mr. Bush qualified?
What makes him compassionate?
I will grant you that he is dedicated to what he believes in.

I voted for Mr. Bush twice and while I do not feel that he is best President of all time, I also do not feel that he is worst. However, I have not seen anything resembling compassion from the man. As to qualifications. The qualifications were that he be over 35, a natural born citizen and never convicted of a felony. I do not necessarily disagree with the way he has handled many issues, but his domestic record with the exception of tax cuts and the economy are dismal. His foreign policy record is even worse. George Bush's legacy will be his determination and steadfast resoluteness in the face of one of the greatest tragedies the United States has ever faced.

As to other Presidents who have exhibited better qualities in all 3 of these areas in recent times, I will present two names. John F. Kennedy and Ronald Reagan.

If you consider being a complete nimrod as one of his qualifications, I dare say he stands head and shoulders above all other presidents.
