The word -Tao- points to the abilities of someone: a good archer, musician, painter or writer it was supposed to have his/her own Tao. Chinese sovereigns showed very much interest in the gifted people - they were invited at the court, put to the test, and rewarded properly when they proved their skill.as a method or skill of doing something special, then "Tao" is translated as "way", "road", "method", "technique" or "principle". As a concept, Tao is the most important topic in the philosophical Taoism.Tao is the name given by Lao-tzu to the Great Pervader or the Mother of all Things . Tao is the creator and sustainer of everything in the Universe the ten thousand things. It is described as follows:
There was something undefined and complete, coming into existence before Heaven and Earth- It may be regarded as the Mother of all things.
I do not know its name, and I give it the designation of the Tao the Way or Course. Making an effort further to give it a name,
I call it The Great. The Tao produces all things and nourishes them -

The Tao is the uncaused first cause.
Taoists believe the Tao existed in the void, and over eons the Tao became salf aware, Then the Tao created yin and yang out of lonliness. Then Yin and Yang began interacting with one another; and the physical universe was created by accident.
Taoists believe if they live in harmony with nature; they are in harmony with the Tao.

The Dao is the Chinese model of nature. It is a unified model of nature, and is the correlate to the subdivided models of nature that exist for speakers of English, science and religion. The Dao is a model that represents the cycle of evolution from the perspective of the Chinese.
