Since C is the midpoint of AB, it means AC = CB. --1
Similarly as B is the midpoint of CD, CB = BD ---2

from 1 and 2
AC = BD

think of of it as a line with factors. B is contained in direction of the line AC. So it sounds like ABC so a techniques. then C is the midpoint of BD. So C is between B and D. So now the factors flow like this, ABCD. So advert=24. advert is the full line phase. AC is 3/4 of the line via fact it is composed of a B and C, that are 3 of the 4 factors. so all you do is 24/4 to correctly known the gap between each and each factor. so 24/4=6. so 6*3=18. AC=18.

If AB = X, then AC = 1/2X; thus CD = X as CB = 1/2X so BD also equals 1/2X
thus AC is congruent to BD

first step is to draw :

A___C___B______D

and then you see that you cant say that AC is congruent to BD. we need the drawing that belongs to this problem.

now I can only say that : AC is half of BD
