Is this in a historical setting or modern day?
She gets a mysterious phone call from a person she thought was dead, calling for help.
She finds a series of clues around her home, in her car, at her work, leading her around town until she discovers the identity of the person or something like that.

-She's kind, talks to old lady.turns out old lady is distant relative and heroine gets a house and her cousin gets a Granny.
- Heroine goes to park, befriends lonely child who has disabled brother. Heroine gets top mark for essay about disability and families.
-Heroine picks up brooch, gives into shop assistant. Turns out it is rich person's sentimental item. Heroine gets whole new wardrobe.
-Heroine goes to help old lady, is given painting, turns out to be valuble, old lady insists she does not want it. Heroine gets 1,000 dollars (this happened to me)
- Goes second hand store finds something very valueable
