As a Scandanavian, I take my licorice very seriously :o) It has to be black! And not the plastic tasting twizzler stuff - I'm talking about real licorice. Strong and slightly salty. My mother used to give us strips of plain balck licorice to gnaw on when we were teething as babies. As we got older, we would have the salty black licorice that comes in little diamond shapes - we would lick the back of our hands and stick the licorice on in a design then see how long we could keep it from falling off (or eating it!). When I was 12 I would babysit a little boy who lived across the hall from my grandparents apartment in Copenhagen. I loved babysitting for him because his parents owned a small licorice factory and would always give me a bread size bag stuffed full of assorted licorice. If you want to try real licorice, most European deli's sell it. Enjoy!

I would like to say I like red better, but I have never tried black, so I can not really tell you, but I can say that I love red licorice.

I LOVE black licorice!!! The red is pretty good too, but I'd rather have black!!
