It was in 1992.jimmy Connors had been slating women's tennis,so was forced into a put-up or shut-up match with Martina Navratilova.connors only got one serve and had to cover the whole court (doubles area). He thrashed Navratrilova in straight sets (7-5,6-2).
Had he lost the women would have been shouting..'See..we ARE equal.'

Yep. You are right. The men tennis is better quality anyway... they play longer... and the men don't get lost of endorsements like Maria Scarapova (not a typo...) so they could use more $$ than the girls anyway! I'm not trying to be sexist... just FACTUAL people!!!

You are talking about Wimbledon now paying equal prize money for the women? Well, perhaps that'll make up a little for the last 110 or so years when the women were "paid at a lower hourly rate".

I dont seriously think any tennis professional, male or female, worries too much about how much their winnings represent on a hourly basis...so what's the point you are trying to make? That women dont deserve equal prize money because the rules of womens tennis call for shorter matches? Surely thats an argument to change the rules, not to keep the prize money unequal!

And currently, with Federer winning everything with one hand behind his back and his eyes closed, I think its fair to say that womens' tennis is much more competitive.
