I have a 1999 Infiniti Qx4, and It's time for a new timing belt. How much should one of these cost? Is there any advice on getting a new belt?

Around $400 if you know where to look . Ask them for a Chilton
labor time, make sure you look at timing belt replacement only no other extra ..Because every thing there should be included, except parts off course

The actual belt itself is inexpensive, however if they have to take apart the engine to get to it the labor might be much more. They might also recommend changing the water pump while they are working down there. You're looking to spend at least 300 if not more for parts and labor.

You might also want to check on a Kevlar timing belt alot less likely to break than rubber they will cost however.

The timing belt is $40.23 from the dealer, alldata (labor guide) calls for about 3 hours, but you should replace the water pump at the same time, it will run about $120.00 more with another hours worth of labor!

belt prices vary from store to store. price it at several stores and that will give you an average price to go by.the labor can be costly. have it done where your friends and family have had work done in the past. that way you know the repair shop is reputable and not overly expensive.

the belt should be no more than 60 bucks if you get it from the dealer, if you buy it from auto parts store it will be cheaper.

$500 installed. Get it when they say you need it unless you don't have an "interference engine". See link below from:
